Primula prolifera – also known as Candelabra Primrose is a flowering evergreen perennial in the family Primulaceae and native to the eastern Himalayas to Indonesia. One of the tallest Candelebra primrose species with whorls of fragrant golden yellow flowers and dusted with epicuticular wax -a protective coating that helps the plant stay healthy under extreme conditions. It has a blooming season that lasts from late Spring to mid-Summer. This gem is a recipient of the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit (AGM), a mark of outstanding excellence. Thriving in moist rich soil, it is a nice addition to bog gardens, along streams and ponds, cottage gardens, and in beds or borders. It will attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Growing up to 4 feet tall and 4 feet tall, it is easy to grow and has low maintenance. It can be grown in either full sun or partial sun however, if growing in full sun, it would be best to do this if you live in a cooler climate.
