Dierama Mixed Variety or angels fishing rod or fairy fishing rod are nicknames given due to the arching branches filled with flowers.. It is a clumping evergreen cormous perennial that produces dainty flowers of different colors that resemble bells on a thin wiry arching stem. Be patient, it takes a little time for the plant to bloom and sometimes it is in the 2nd year for flowering, but it is worth the wait as it will be there next year and after that. Other than that they are tough and beautiful and virtually carefree. They do best outdoors in hummus rich well drained soil in a sheltered area. Dieramas are long term plants that get better every year and when mature are great focal points in bloom. It tolerates salt air and wind, also able to withstand lower temps then most plants. These are from Africa and will live for quite a few years and get grander each year. Not known in the U.S. they are stunning and unique and so easy to grow and care for, once established they don’t ask for much. Your neighbors will be envious of these.
This packet of seed is a great mixture of all of the dieramas that my favorite English Nursery grows and hybridizes, so about 15 varieties of Dierama were tossed in one bowl and I had to order them so you get to grow them and see what you have, no matter which ones you grow, you will love them. I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike! There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
SEED GERMINATION TIP!!!!!!!
ONLY GERMINATE A SMALL PORTION AT A TIME.
DON'T PUT ALL YOUR MONKEYS IN A BARREL.
Good Luck and Happy Planting!!!!
