Linaria vulgaris – Butter & Eggs seed

Linaria vulgaris – Butter & Eggs. Also commonly known as the Yellow Toadflax, is a Perennial plant that has short, spreading roots. These flowers have erect stems with fine, threadlike, blue-green leaves, and the flowers are similar to those of the Snapdragon. They are long and pale yellow, except for the lower tip which is orange. They are borne in dense terminal racemes, that will bloom from late Spring to mid-Fall. It is native to Europe and southwestern Asia. It is important to note that the roots of a single plant can extend to 10 feet and give rise to other plants every few inches, making it hard to eradicate. This weed is listed as a noxious weed in several western states in the US and Canadian provinces, so it should be used with caution. It grows best in full sun in light, moderately fertile, well-draining soils, and will grow up to 2 feet tall. However, they do prefer sandy soils. After flowering, the plants can be cut back in order to prevent self-seeding. These showy flowers will attract pollinators to your gardens such as Butterflies and Bees while being resistant to Deer and Rabbits. They do well in beds and borders and can be used in the under plantings of roses and shrubs. A nice feature of these flowers is that they are low maintenance, making them the perfect plant for the busy gardener! You don’t want to miss out on this flower find, it will surely add a nice pop of color to your garden!

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike!  There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!

SEED GERMINATION TIP!!!!!!!

ONLY GERMINATE A SMALL PORTION AT A TIME.

DON'T PUT ALL YOUR MONKEYS IN A BARREL.
