Lupinus Perennis Hybrid Russell Band of Noble Series Color Mixture

Lupinus Perennis - hybrid Russell band of noble series color mixture. Back in the early 1900’s, George Russel from the UK York was obsessed with breeding the perfect Lupin. After two decades he accomplished the task. Original Lupins were not nearly as dense, having gaps in the blooms and only basic colors. Thanks to his hard work and determination, we now have a clumping herbaceous plant with jaw dropping large spikes wrapped with a multitude of flowers with deep true colors. These colors consist of bright hues of golden yellow, ivory white, pink, shades of glowing carmine, crimson red, and ultramarine blue. All of the blooms have either a white upper petal, known as a “flag”, or the upper petal is a shade or two lighter than the bottom petal. Sitting on top of their many stems and leaves, the flowers bloom from the bottom up, which makes for a longer blooming period from early summer to fall. The pollinators love lupine. In the garden the Lupin is easy to care for when placed in moist well drained soil and full sun to partial shade. If the placement of the plant is in an open non-sheltered area, it may need to be staked. This plant is very useful mixed together with other plants in your garden because of its long roots which is a great help with aeration of the soil, and also fertilization by drawing nitrogen into the soil. Because of the long roots it does not like being disturbed once established. Popular uses are cottage and informal gardens, borders and beds, gardens for color, coastal, flower arrangements, contrast for height and structure.

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike!  There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!

SEED GERMINATION TIP!!!!!!!

ONLY GERMINATE A SMALL PORTION AT A TIME.

DON'T PUT ALL YOUR MONKEYS IN A BARREL.

Good Luck and Happy Planting!!!!
