Poppy - Papaver oriental - May Queen bears double flowers that are a vibrant orange-red color, that sit atop hairy, stiff stems and coarse, divided leaves. It has a blooming season ranging from late Spring to Summer, grows best in full sun with well-draining soil, and will grow between 1.5 – 3 feet tall. These plants will do fine with a little less than full sunlight however, they may not flower as heavily, or their foliage won’t be as bright. These showy flowers will attract pollinators to your garden such as Bees while being resistant to Deer and Rabbits. These do well in beds and borders in the garden. Another great characteristic of this plant is that it is low maintenance, making it the perfect plant for the busy gardener!
