This is a Texas Red Star hibiscus. This type of hibiscus is unusual in that the star-shaped deep red bloom lasts for one day, but this plant can put out constant blooms all Summer long. I have seen mine put out 19 blooms in one day! It will grow 6-8 feet tall and spread several feet as well. Dies back in Winter and comes back in Spring. This makes a great backdrop for a flowerbed up to 4 feet tall.
