Verbena bonariensis - Purple Top Vervain seed

Verbena Bonariensis - Purple top Vervain. The purple tops produce globe shaped blossoms from low clumps of dark green lance-shaped leaves that is an excellent choice to fill in mixed flower beds. It is an easy to grow herbaceous perennial and a good substitute for a butterfly bush. It is a perennial in warm climates and an annual in cool climates. They give off a sweet fragrance from the first year with an extended blooming period from early summer to the first frost. The stalks are strong enough not to require staking. You will enjoy a vast array of butterflies such as: swallowtails, comma, lonwings, fritillaries, hairstreaks, painted ladies, queens, and red admirals, goldfinches and cardinals also love to gobble up the purple top seeds. Valuable plant for bees and any garden due to the attraction to pollinators it has. This is my best-selling verbena 10 to 1 of any other verbena I sell.  Verbena is derived from Latin, meaning ‘sacred bough’, in reference to the leafy twigs of vervaine Verbena Officinalis which were historically carried by priests, used in wreaths for druidic rituals, and for medicine. Named by Virgil and Pliny the Elder. The common name, vervaine, comes from the Celtic name, ‘ferfain’.

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike!  There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!

SEED GERMINATION TIP!!!!!!!

ONLY GERMINATE A SMALL PORTION AT A TIME.

DON'T PUT ALL YOUR MONKEYS IN A BARREL.

Good Luck and Happy Planting!!!!
