Gentiana Andrewsii Bottle Gentian – are unique perennials that bloom from August to September and are a blue- purplish color. They are showy with 1 to 1 ½ inch tubular flowers with five fused petals that do not open so they resemble large buds. They are adaptable and can do well in most moist rich soils that are well drained. The blooms can get too heavy and start to lean but it adds to its stunning charm. They attract bumblebees and bumblebees are the only ones strong enough to get through the enclosed petals. They are good for fields, edges or flower beds.
