Monarda Fistulosa- Wild Bergamot – a perennial that blooms from midsummer to fall, is average maintenance and easy to grow. These lilac purple tubular flowers are showy, fragrant and nectar rich which attracts birds, butterflies, hummingbirds and bees. They are fast growing and spread vigorously making them good for beds, borders, wild gardens, prairies, meadows and cut flowers. They are clump forming and will self seed. They also happen to be drought and heat tolerant as well as deer and rabbit resistant. The green aromatic leaves may be used to flavor teas, most common is mint.
