Poppy - Papaver oriental - Oriental Poppy mix. A perennial herbaceous plant that can be started indoors or outdoors. The plant blooms into a delicate, papery six-inch-wide flower in showy hues of red, pink, orange, white, and bi-color. They mix well with other flowers such as Irises, alliums, sage, foxglove, roses and more. They can be used in various gardens, borders, and beds to let your imagination run wild with ideas. These plants are native to Turkey and Iran. Soil requirements are most important with this plant to guarantee the success of the plant's longevity. Soil type preferred is rich, moist, and most importantly, well drained. Seed needs to be cold stratified to germinate. One of the easier poppies to grow as long as you provide food, they are heavy feeders. Plant enmasse to see an area filled in like a rainbow of color. Out of all my poppies, these are everyone’s favorite, it seems.
