Verbascum olympicum F. Album is a plant that will add some drama to your garden. It forms a tall and beautiful candelabra of flowering spikes, that are covered with golden-yellow blossoms. The flower stalks rise from a low-growing, wide rosette of silvery-grey felted leaves. The blooming season of these plants extend from early to late summer. These hardy plants will grow between 6 – 10 feet and do best in full sun with well-drained soils and are also drought tolerant. They will attract butterflies, bees, and birds to your garden while being resistant to deer and rabbits. It is a wonderful plant for your bees, and they will visit it daily in bloom. Bees are something we should all try to help in their survival since they give more than they get! It is recommended to remove spent flower spikes to promote further blooms. They are native to Southern Greece, and the Olympus mountains in Turkey. They are great for cut flowers and do well in beds and borders. These plants are also low maintenance and are regarded as one of the most desirable of the genus.
