Aster alpinus Pinkie. This “pretty in pink” flower is a clump forming perennial that produces a deciduous green foliage. The flower petals are a beautiful pink hue with bright yellow centers that are early bloomers. The plants will form a low carpet of bright green leaves with taller branching stems shooting above, producing the daisy-shaped flowers. The plant is not long lived but will self seed at a very successful rate to produce future generations of beauty. After the pinkie blooms, with its intense bright pink flowers, a fluffy bunch of seed heads will appear. This easy to grow eye catching plant will be a great addition to your garden. Suggested uses are rock gardens, ground cover, front borders, containers, cut flowers and edging. Pinkie is drought tolerant. Great for edging a walkway because they grow so low and are quite colorful in bloom.
