Calceolaria Biflora - Goldcap. Aka: Pocketbook flower, Slipper flower, Slipperwort, Purse flower. Native to Chile and Argentina, comes a showy and charming clump forming perennial. Low growing rosette of light green hairy leaves produces numerous wiry stems holding puffy pouch-like bright yellow flowers sprinkled with red dots. This hardy plant is super unique and a definite eye catcher causing a second look at its outstanding diversity. It is cold hardy and will possibly last TEN years if grown in its happy place, in evenly moist well drained sandy soil. It is important to be mindful of standing water which will cause failure if unattended. If it is grown indoors in baskets or pots, it will require more watering. It is easy to grow and care for and is disease free, but snails and slugs love it. If you are searching for something unusual but gorgeous to spice up your garden, this is an excellent choice.

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike! There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
