Dierama pulcherrimum - Autumn Sparkler, also known as wand flower, angel's fishing rod. A perennial, this plant bears dense, tubular bell-shaped amazing fluorescent flowers. Autumn Sparkler is a rare Dierama that enhances any area it grows with the flowers facing upwards. It tolerates salt air and wind, also able to withstand lower temps than most plants. Colors include pale pink to deep magenta-pink with occasional purplish red or white. They will still be blooming long after their family members have faded away. They stand out in their environment because of their slightly open, close- set flowers on unique thin erect thin wands. Populare growing spots to plant are at the back of a border or by a pool or stream where soil is consistently moist. Many describe the flower to look more like an Iris than other dierama.
