Salvia Verticillata

Salvia Verticillata also known as Purple Rain and Whorled Sage, is a plant that is grown

primarily for the look of its beautiful flowers and foliage. It features upright reddish stems that are often arched and lined with whorls of bracts that are a rosy-purple color, highlighted with small flowers that are an attractive violet-blue color. They rise atop a bushy mound of large, fuzzy, green leaves. If these are deadheaded, the flowers will bloom abundantly for weeks. It has a blooming season that lasts all Summer long, will grow between 18 – 30 inches tall, does best in full sun with well-drained soil however will tolerate light shade and is also drought tolerant. These showy flowers are fragrant and will also attract pollinators to your garden such as Hummingbirds, Butterflies, and Bees while being resistant to Deer and Rabbits. These are native to Europe and Western Asia, and make great cut flowers, do well in containers, and also in beds and borders in the garden. These are also low maintenance and easy to care for plants, which is always a good thing for the busy gardener.

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike!  There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!

SEED GERMINATION TIP!!!!!!!

ONLY GERMINATE A SMALL PORTION AT A TIME.

DON'T PUT ALL YOUR MONKEYS IN A BARREL.

Good Luck and Happy Planting!!!!
