Achillea millefolium Occidentalis – Western Yarrow is one of the most common yarrows in the U.S. Commonly used en masse for reclamation projects, the pollen is much appreciated by the Hummingbirds, Butterflies, and Bees. The white flowerheads are flat and grow above the fern-like leaves. In the olden West, I read this was a food for Antelope, Deer, Wild Fowl, and Sheep. Native Americans used it for medicinal purposes as well, to relieve headaches, fever, and pain.
