Allium Schoenoprasum are cultivated for both their ornamental values and culinary uses. They are small, bulbous perennials that feature attractive, globular flowers that are a pale lavender, and have thin, grass-like dark green leaves that grow in clumps. These are usually pest and disease free due to their strong onion or garlic scent! They have a blooming season that lasts from late Spring to early Summer, can be grown in either full sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained soils, and will grow between 12 – 18 inches tall. It is recommended to add grit to clay soils to help improve the drainage. These are also drought tolerant. These are easily grown from seed, and they will self-seed if the spent flower heads are not promptly deadheaded. Both the flowers and leaves are edible, but it is important to do your own research first before consuming any part of this plant. These showy flowers will attract pollinators to your garden such as Butterflies and Bees while being resistant to Deer and Rabbits. These plants are toxic to dogs, cats, and horses.
They are native to the North Hemisphere, and do well in containers, beds, and borders. Other great features of this plant are that it is easy to grow and low maintenance, which is great for the beginner, busy gardener!

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike! There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
SEED GERMINATION TIP!!!!!!!
ONLY GERMINATE A SMALL PORTION AT A TIME.
DON'T PUT ALL YOUR MONKEYS IN A BARREL.
