Dianthus Barbatus - Sweet William single is a relative of the carnation. You can easily recognize these lovelies by their spicy sweet fragrance, which makes them irresistible to the butterflies. Being an extremely eye-popping beauty, it touts fringed petals of red, pink, purple or violet, making it a winner for cutting and ornaments. They are a native of Europe and boast being named after almost every royal William there ever was. That is proof enough of how special these flowers really are. Even Prince William and Catherine Middleton included them in her wedding bouquet as a “tribute” to William. Not only do these flowers smell good, look beautiful and adapt to many soil types, but they are also edible! And if you want to extend the blooming time you can deadhead them and enjoy the beauty and aroma through the entire season. Also feel free to plant them in your garden bed, use them as cottage flowers and borders. These are my #1 pick.

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike! There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
