Dianthus superbus- Fringed pink or large pink Dianthus. This beautiful flower with sweet nectar is a native of Europe, Northern Asia, Norway, and Japan. Known as an herbaceous perennial plant that easily multiplies, it features slender green to greyish green leaves up to 8 cm long. In late summer the flowers produce branched clusters at the top of the stem and give a sweet-scented fringed flower with 5 petals that are pink to lavender and look like it has spiders due to the fringe on the edges of the petals, making it look very delicate and unusual. Because the flowers grow low to the ground, planting in groups is recommended to better experience its sweet aroma and to draw the Butterflies and Bees to come frequent the flowers. Besides having such a wonderful aroma from the sweet nectar, this plant is edible! You can boil the flowers to eat or make a refreshing drink. Enjoy!
