Poppy Papaver – Lauren’s Grape. This is a more recent Poppy variety that has big, single, bowl-shaped flowers that are an attractive rich purple plum color, that are up to 5 inches across! Adding some additional beauty are the showy black blotches that are present at the base of the petals. The blooms sit atop the sturdy stems that are clad with deeply lobed, silvery to blue-green leaves. They have a blooming season that lasts from June to August, can be grown in either full sun to light shade in chalk, loam, or sandy well-draining soil, and will grow between 3 – 4 feet tall! A nice feature of these flowers is that they are drought tolerant. They will attract pollinators to your gardens such as butterflies and bees while being resistant to deer and rabbits. They make great cut flowers, and their decorative seed pods are commonly used in dried floral arrangements – they also can be left in the garden for their visual interest! They also do well in beds and borders. Some other nice features of these flowers are that they are easy to grow and low maintenance, making them perfect for the beginning, busy gardener. Don’t miss out on this flower seed find, the flowers they will give you will give a color punch to your beds and borders!

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike! There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
