Poppy - Papaver Somniferum - Danebrog. Common names: Danish flag, Queens poppy. Resembling the Danish and Swiss national banners, these flowers have got to be one of the most unique flowers that will make your eyes pop and jaw drop. The petals are brilliant white with super bright true scarlet red fringe making up most of the petals. If that isn’t bright enough, it has a lime green center! Temperature is a big factor when it comes to the success of these wildly gorgeous flowers. They are self sowers but if you are planting them, be mindful not to plant if there are extreme hot or cold temperatures on the horizon. They grow best in rich moist soil that is well drained and can be used as an annual or perennial. They are said to be essential in cottage gardens. The pods are commonly dried and used in decorations. They will attract all types of bees. The bees love them so much you will see them fighting over the pollen! *fun fact... true poppies come in every color but blue.

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike! There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
SEED GERMINATION TIP!!!!!!!
ONLY GERMINATE A SMALL PORTION AT A TIME.
DON'T PUT ALL YOUR MONKEYS IN A BARREL.
Good Luck and Happy Planting!!!!
