Scabiosa Stellata - Star flower. This flower is unique with its pale blue color and unusual texture. The small pale blue blossoms ascending from the wiry stems make a remarkable transition into bronze hued, globe shaped seed heads in a geometric form. They are popular and primarily grown for their paper-like seed heads, where they are used in fresh and dried bouquets and various crafts. When planting outdoors it may require support to ensure safety, health and bloom life of the plant. If used for fresh cut or dried flowers, harvest when seed heads are light green with dark bronze edges and star centers just turning black. This one the most unique of all Scabiosas due to its bizarre color and shape, quite a conversation piece. Attracts butterflies and bees as well as a few other pollinators. Easy to grow and care for. Can be grown in a garden or in containers.

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike! There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
