Scabiosa Atropurpurea - Fire King. common names: morningbride, pincushion flowers,
drumstick flower. Deep scarlet flowers on tall, slender, strong stems bring delight and contrast to wherever they are planted and whatever they are used for. The seed heads are great used in arrangements. They can be annuals, biennials or herbaceous or evergreen perennials, with simple or pinnately lobed leaves and flower-heads with enlarged outer florets, that bloom from midsummer until autumn. Important to remember to use a plant support when transplanted outdoors to ensure the stalks mature straight and sturdy with satisfactory flower growth and blooming. If you cut for fresh or dried flowers, harvest when seed heads are light green with dark bronze edges and centers are just turning black. Scabiosas are quite a unique flower when you see them, and easy to grow and care for. I grow them myself and love them when they bloom en masse, plant several together for a most impressive look. Scabiosas attract the good pollinators to your garden, it Attracts Hummingbirds, Butterflies, Bees, and other beneficial pollinators.

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike! There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
SEED GERMINATION TIP!!!!!!!
ONLY GERMINATE A SMALL PORTION AT A TIME.
DON'T PUT ALL YOUR MONKEYS IN A BARREL.
