Scabiosa Atropurpurea - Black Knight. This flower is so unique, words can’t describe it. It has to be seen. With deep crimson to black pincushion shaped flowers, the stamens are white! From lacy leafed mounds to the top of their 24–36 inch stems, they have more than ample space for cutting. If left alone, leaving the spent flowers in place this handsome Knight will self sow. Being such an irresistible flower, people and pollinators think they are the “bee’s knees”! They attract Hummingbirds, Butterflies, Bees along with other beneficial insects, which is a bonus for the garden. They go well together planted with salvias, sedum and low roses. They are used in gardens, cut and dried flowers, bouquets, flower borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens and wildflower meadows. I also read that since the early 1600s in England, the flower used to be called Blackamoor's Beauty and Mournful Widow.

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike! There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
SEED GERMINATION TIP!!!!!!!
ONLY GERMINATE A SMALL PORTION AT A TIME.
DON'T PUT ALL YOUR MONKEYS IN A BARREL.
Good Luck and Happy Planting!!!!
