Verbascum Blattaria Alba moth mullein. Unique is putting it mildly describing this plant. The moth mullein, a member of the figwort family, is a showy biennial plant standing 1 1⁄2 - 3 feet tall. The main stem is stout and ribbed. The plant starts out slow the first year, then sprouts up fast. The flowers start out measuring 5” long and 2” across and get smaller as it ascends outward along the stems. The flowers are white or yellow and sometimes have greenish-brown or purplish-pink tints. The center has fine purple hairs around the stamens, and the base of the
petals sometimes present with various hues of pink or purple. It is a reseeder that blooms during the summer for 1-2 months. Soil is a large factor in the life of the plant. It grows and is tolerant of poor and dry soil but will produce small plants. Rich and moist soil will produce
larger plants. The moth mullein prefers highly disturbed areas and can be found abandoned fields, vacant lots, gravel bars along rivers, pastures, along roadside and railroads, and irregularly mowed lawns. The plant has multiple herbal medicinal uses. Google for that infor as
it is massive. The flowers can be either yellow or white and typically have a slight purple tinge. The stamens of the flower are orange in color and are covered in purple hairs, reminiscent to a moth’s antennae.
*fact: a study conducted in 1974 reported that when a number of Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae were exposed to a methanol extract of moth mullein, at least 53% of the larvae were killed. V. blattaria has also long been known to be an effective cockroach repellent, and the name blattaria is actually derived from the Latin word for cockroach, blatta.

There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
