Dianthus Barbatus Nanus – Dwarf Sweet William is an old-fashioned cottage garden plant that usually grows as a self-seeding biennial. This dwarf strain produces clusters of fragrant flowers that come in shades of pink, salmon, rose, red, and white, that often have an attractive contrasting eye, and light green foliage. It is recommended to remove fading flowers to help encourage more buds to form. Another tip is to prune plants back hard after blooming because this will encourage them to survive for another year. They have a blooming season that lasts from late Spring to early Summer, grows best in full sun in either normal, sandy or clay soil that is well-draining and will grow between 8 – 12 inches tall. These showy flowers will attract numerous pollinators to your garden such as Hummingbirds, Butterflies, and Bees while being resistant to Deer and Rabbits. They make great cut flowers, do well in containers, beds, borders, and can be used for edging. Another great feature of this plant is that it is easy to care for, which makes this the perfect plant for the beginning gardener! You don’t want to miss out on this plant find, it will definitely add a nice flare to your Summer garden!

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike! There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
