Gentiana punctata – Spotted Gentiana is a clump-forming, upright perennial that has veined leaves and bright yellow flowers that are spotted with neon purple. It has a blooming season that ranges from late Summer to mid Fall, grows best in partial shade in sandy, loamy, well-draining soils, and will grow between 12 – 24 inches tall. It prefers moist soils and will die back in the Winter. A great characteristic of this plant is that it is also wind tolerant. These showy flowers will attract numerous pollinators to your garden such as Butterflies and Bees while being resistant to Deer and Rabbits. They are native to Central and Southeastern Europe and do well in beds and borders in the garden.
