Verbesina alternifolia - Wingstem – Also commonly known as the Wingstem or Yellow Ironweed, these flowers get their name from the dome-shaped clusters of bright yellow daisies that bloom atop upright, hairy stems with raised ridges that look like wings! These perennials bloom from late summer to fall, can be grown in either full sun or partial shade in well-draining soils, and will grow between 4 – 8 feet tall. They have olive green foliage with rough leaves that keep the deer and rabbits away. These showy flowers will attract pollinators to your gardens such as butterflies and bees. They are considered clump-forming. They are also self-seeding, so they are good for meadows or flower beds. Being that these flowers are low maintenance and easy to grow, they are the perfect flowers for the beginning, busy gardener! Don’t miss out on this flower seed find, they will bring you blooms that will add a ray of sunshine to any garden!

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike! There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
