Penstemon Whippleanus - Chocolate Drop seed

Penstemon Whippleanus Chocolate Drop, also known as beard tongue, dusky beardtongue, pride of the mountain. This extremely unusual penstemon has upright herbaceous perennial with its lance shaped leaves would be very difficult not to notice in any area you may see it. It is a very unique showy flower with deep burgundy/dark purple to nearly black with a creamy white throat. Very dramatic clusters of the long tubular shaped flowers with extended lower lips, hang over the top of an upright stem. It's

hard to resist the temptation to make it a permanent part of your flower family. Definitely an attention getter and a conversation starter. You can relax knowing this plant will thrive wherever you plant it. It prefers well drained average soil, but will tolerate a host of different soil types. There is little to no concern about rough weather conditions that bring strong winds and/or rain etc. because this beauty will shrug it off! Also, it has scarce to no issues with pests or diseases. AND when their bloom season is done, no worries there either because they will grow back the following year on their own. But wait! There’s more! It's frost hardy and a long bloomer from mid summer to autumn. They are great for cut flowers, borders, rock gardens and beds. Attracts hummingbirds, bees, birds and other beneficial pollinators. Great for containers as well, place taller flower in back of container and these around the front.

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine,Florida. All seed are NOT alike!  There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!

SEED GERMINATION TIP!!!!!!!

ONLY GERMINATE A SMALL PORTION AT A TIME.

DON'T PUT ALL YOUR MONKEYS IN A BARREL.

Good Luck and Happy Planting!!!!
