Rudbeckia hirta - Prairie Sun has unusually large daisy-like flowers that are up to 5 inches wide. These are one of the largest blooms among Rudbeckia! The flowers have bright orange rays that are delicately yellow tipped that surround a center disk that is a light green color. These flowers are produced in quantities that make it seem like they almost cover the lovely foliage of leaves that are a bright green. It has a blooming season ranging from early Summer to Fall, thrives in full sun with average to medium, well-drained soils, will grow between 2 – 3 feet tall, and is also drought tolerant once established. This plant has already won multiple awards that include the All-America Selections Award and the Fleuroselect Gold Medal. These showy flowers will attract pollinators to your garden such as Butterflies, Bees, and Birds while being resistant to Deer and Rabbits. They make great cut flowers, do well in dried floral arrangements, and can also be used in beds and borders in the garden. These are also low maintenance plants, which every busy gardener will love!
