Alyssum - Lobularia maritima - Violet Queen is a rapid growing carpet of flowers growing 4 to 6 inches tall. This violet purple mass of tiny flowers fills an area of poor soil with color. Preferring Sun to part shade and poor loamy soil, this flower gives bang for the buck. It chokes out weeds, is ressistant to Deer and Rabbit, draws Hummingbirds, Butterflies and Bees and on top of all that – It's Fragrant and smells like honey. Violet Queen is used for borders, edging, containers and window boxes as it will cascade over the sides and drape the box in deep purple blooms.
