Malva alcea - var. Fastigiata seed pink purple flowers

Malva alcea -  var. Fastigiata is a herbaceous perennial that is part of the Malvaceae family. What’s interesting is the ‘Fastigiata’ is the most popular cultivar of the species. It is clump-forming and features dainty pink hollyhock-like flowers that are 2 inches in diameter, with five notched petals. These showy flowers rise atop light green, deeply lobed foliage. They have a blooming season that lasts from June to September, can be grown in either full sun or partial shade in medium moisture, well-draining soils, will grow between 2 – 4 feet tall, and also tolerates some drought. Be sure to remove the spent flowers to help encourage additional flowering. These flowers do appreciate a site that is protected from strong winds. Even though they are short-lived, they may freely self-seed in the garden if the spent flowers aren’t deadheaded. These flowers will attract pollinators to your gardens such as butterflies and bees while being resistant to deer and rabbits. They do well in borders and cottage gardens. Don’t miss out on this flower seed find, they will give you pretty pink flowers that will add a nice pop of color to any garden!
