Malva Sylvestris - ssp. Mauritania - Blue Mallow also called Tree Mallow, is a heavy blooming perennial that produces a lot of rich purple flowers that have darker veins. It has a blooming season ranging from mid-Summer to Fall, likes to be grown in full sun with good drainage however, it can also be grown in partial shade in the South and will grow between 4 – 5 feet tall. These showy flowers will attract Butterflies and Bees to your garden while being resistant to Deer and Rabbits. These plants do well in containers and also in beds and borders in the garden. Malva sylvestris spreads itself on waste and rough ground, by roads and railways throughout lowland England, Wales and Channel Islands, Siberia and scattered elsewhere. It has been introduced to and has become naturalized in eastern Australia, in the United States, Canada. The seeds called cheeses, are brown to brownish green when ripe and are shaped like a cheese wheel.

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike! There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
