Verbascum Phoeniceum Violetta

Verbascum Phoeniceum - Violetta. Aka: Vioetta purple mullein, beggar's blanket. A clumping perennial plant with a rossett of oval shaped, crinkled and hairy, dark green basal leaves. A multitude of tiny close packed spikes will spring forth from a tall sturdy stem. The elegant flowers are a rich true purple that bloom from the bottom upward, giving continuous blooms for weeks from spring to summer. These papery looking flowers will be sure to put on a great show and excellent color statement any place it is planted. This plant is very easy to grow and isn’t picky about soil. It will be happy in a permanent place of well-drained soil, and will become drought tolerant after established. It is well known for its extraordinary ability to produce multitudes of seeds and sows itself very well. It is important to cut back spent flowers to avoid an invasion of wherever it is planted. And if the spent flowers are cut back promptly, you can enjoy a second round of blooming! It's a natural for mass meadows, but commonly used as borders, rock gardens, cottage gardens, and a great choice for cut flowers. Attracts Hummingbirds, Butterflies and Bees but repels deer and slugs and also snails.

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike!  There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!

SEED GERMINATION TIP!!!!!!!

ONLY GERMINATE A SMALL PORTION AT A TIME.

DON'T PUT ALL YOUR MONKEYS IN A BARREL.

Good Luck and Happy Planting!!!!
