Verbascum chaixii Album Nettle- leaved Mullein. This elegant showy flower is a short-lived semi evergreen perennial. The flowers average from a rosette of gray-green leaves and spikes switch multiple white flowers with purple hearts and orange eyes. Blooming period is late spring to late summer with a possibility of re-blooming in the fall. It tolerates nutrient poor soil, but grows to its potential in fertile well drained soil. It is a wonderful plant for your bees, and they will visit it daily in bloom, bees are something we should all try to help in their survival since they give more than they get! The plant is native to Europe and has adapted to the United States. It is a self-seeder but can be deadheaded to extend blooming time. It is tolerant to dry rocky soil and drought.
